Create a green city

Environmental and wildlife simulation games are growing in popularity, like explore Wild Africa, and care for animals in Zoo Hospital. And now National Geographic teams up with Merscom to bring out "Plan it Green", an environmental sim game that lets you create a green city.

"This is the right product for the times. Not only is it a fantastic game, but it integrates a theme we all hear hundreds of times a week," said Kirk Owen, Merscom's CEO. "By working with National Geographic, we were able to go beyond pop green ideas and make a game that truly conveys the possibilities of the future."

Plan it Green is a PC game released to time with the occasion of Earth Day. To create a green city you are put in charge as Mayor of Greenville. Your mission is to make the city inhabitable by using green technologies like installing eco-homes, generating electricity through solar panels and wind turbines, saving on heating costs through thermal painting, building gardens and green parks, etc.

Plan it Green has you improving 8 neighborhoods across 45 levels of gameplay. You also start green initiatives like recycling, organic farming, eco-business, and help revive the economy through new green jobs. The better the economy, the more money you have to buy new homes, and carry out eco-upgrades. However it's not all build and expand; you also have to take care of the happiness and quality of life of the people.

Plan It Green is available on Amazon.com for $9.99.
