Cross-training the brain is said to improve its power of memory and concentration. Most of us are born right or left handed and do most everyday tasks like brushing teeth and hair with one hand. The left-side of the brain controls the right hand and the right-side the left hand, so if you start brushing your teeth with your other hand it is supposed to exercise the nerves linked to that part of the brain, improving brain power. This also makes you ambidextrous.
The new Nintendo DS game Left Brain Right Brain 2 helps players to develop ambidexterity and improve brain power by making them use both hands to play this mental training game. In it, players use the DS’s touch screen in 20 games that require speed, accuracy, association, recognition, memory and strategy.
Games like Balloon Attack, Block Buster, Cosmic Seesaw, Space Escape and many more strengthen the left and right hemispheres of the brain by making players switch hands throughout play. Afterwards, players can monitor personal progress and assess improvement by reviewing development percentages for each hand.
Cambridge News is offering three games of this Nintendo DS title for free in a competition that ends on May 9.
